Or Africa. That’s right! I was given the go ahead by Mercy Ships and bought my ticket to South Africa today! I’m currently at about 80% support pledged and the ball is in motion! I’m really excited, but really tired as you can imagine. It’s been a long day.

The updated itinerary:

I’ll be starting training on September 18th, headed to Haiti, October 16th, and flying out to Durban, South Africa on November 30th. The hope and plan is to visit family in Washington for Thanksgiving, so I’m hoping to be in Spokane the following weekend. As for my time in South Africa I’ll be working at the land base near Durban while the ship’s new generators are finished being put on board, and then will sail with the ship to Sierra Leone. What’s also nice about getting there in December is that it’s their summer, so I’ll give most of winter a miss this year! Huzzah!

Other updates: if you didn’t notice, the layout here on the website has been streamlined to make it more aesthetically appealing. However if you’re using an old version of Internet Explorer there are a few things that won’t display properly, and considering how busy I am I may not change that. You should go download Firefox. There are other glitches, like with the photo album, but I’ll get around to fixing them over time.

And yes, I am in Texas; and yes, it is really hot and humid.

And that’s about it for now, if you would like to pledge your support now’s a great time to do so too! Thanks again for reading and feel free to leave a comment below!
